5 more days until JAM 2013. Hard to believe that this will
be the 5th JAM Jocelyn will be participating in. It is both sad and
encouraging at the same time. Happy that she can walk and run and play, sad that is
takes such strong medicines to accomplish. I wonder what the years ahead hold
for her in terms of her disability and chronic illness. Hope for less pain,
more fun and yet at the same time sadness over a childhood scarred with
medicines, doctors, injections, surgeries, and great emotional pains for all of
us.

updates...
I suck at blogging. ha! When was my last blog post?
Life with Jocelyn has been great, always fun, always busy but always worth it! I wouldn't change much if anything at all. Jocelyn started back with swimming lessons in November 2012 after a year off. She loves swimming so much, and it's such a great sport/activity for her BPI and her JIA. After the last session ended in December she had passed and moved up from Polliwog to Trout at the YMCA. She can now swim a bit with no floaters It's is still difficult and she cannot swim very far or for long with out but it's a start in the right direction. many times I wondered if she would ever have enough strength and ROM in her left arm/shoulder to swim. She's so damn strong!
She loves school, she's still a bit on the emotional side as I am sure she will be her whole life, but overall she's a happy little 1st grader. Adventure club is great, she learns so much being around kids of all ages, cultures, learning levels etc. And the staff is wonderful!
Christmas was great, lots of fun with family. Jocelyn got more then she needs even after trying to scale down because she is one lucky little girl and gets so much all year long.
Well better get back to work, will try to write more next time it pops into my head!

Ready for Weekend!
It's Thursday and we are busy packing up for a trip to Chicago for the long weekend. Got a little pink princess suitcase full of red white and blue for Little Miss J and shopping this afternoon for snacks for the drive. Adam will have to pack tonight and procrastinate like usual.
Tonight Adam and his brothers are going out to dinner for a farewell (for a little while) to Curt who is moving to Virginia for a couple years. I am sure the boys will enjoy one last meal at Travail and a first meal there for Brent.
Jocelyn has been doing well in school, 9 days left until she is done with Kindergarten and moving on to 1st Grade! EEK, how did this happen so fast! She has had a lot of fun and some trying times getting used to school. But I believe she has grown and learned a ton. She is excited for a summer back at Joan's, we will see how that goes.
Her JIA is still inflammed in her poor little ankles. We go in next month for another check up and possible steroid injections into her ankles for what I think is the 5th time. :( Maybe this will do the trick, maybe not. Wish her little body would leave her alone and let her be a kid.

May already?
May 1 – I cannot believe today is May 1st. Where has the first part of 2012 gone to?
Jocelyn has only 5 weeks of Kindergarten left. I cannot believe how fast her first year in school has gone. For the most part it has gone well. It was certainly an adjustment for us all but she has prevailed and is learning so much every day.
I am going to try to blog more, I know I say that all the time but really I am going to give it a shot.
I want to use this as a way to raise awareness for two causes so dear to our hearts. Brachial Plexus Injuries and Juvenile Arthritis. Did you know that May is Arthritis Action Month? It is held to draw attention to the more than 100 forms of arthritis that afflict at least 50 million people in the United States and collectively cost more to treat than cancer.
I am going to start talking more about Jocelyn’s disability and her chronic illness. I encourage you all to do research on these causes as they are both far more common then you know.
